Advanced Beginner. Uses simple, common stitches and techniques. Special Instructions are given for the half double crochet cluster stitch.

Recommended Yarn

Any worsted #4 weight yarn approx. 95-115 yards.

Hooks & Other Materials

  • US Size J/10 or 6 mm hook
  • Yarn Needle
  • Stitch Marker
  • Scissors

Sizes/Finished Measurements

Size is approximate and may be slightly different based on ability to meet gauge.

Small Child (21″) – 10″ x 5″

Large Child (26″) – 12.5″ x 5″

Adult (31″) – 15″ x 5″

Abbreviations

Stitches St(s)
Chain (ch)
Half Double Crochet Cluster (Cluster)
Rounds (rds)
Foundation Single Crochet (FSC)
Yarn Over (YO)

Notes

  1. The pattern is worked in rounds from the bottom up.
  2. Ch 1 does not count as a stitch at the beginning of each round.
  3. Ch 1 does count as a stitch in the remainder of each round.

Gauge

With US size J/10 (6 mm) hook: 8 sc = 2 “/2.5 cm. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge.

Special Stitches/Techniques

Hdc Cluster: YO and insert your hook into ch st, YO and pull up a loop. YO and insert your hook into the next ch space, YO and pull up a loop. YO and pull through all five loops on your hook.
