DK #3 or worsted #4 weight cotton yarn, approx. 100 yards.

Gauge

Not necessary for this crochet project.

Special Stitches/Techniques

Stacked Double Crochet – Single crochet into beginning stitch, insert hook between vertical legs of sc, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through.

SHELLEY WASHCLOTH PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

Ch 35 or alternatively fsc 34 and skip row 1, turn.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn. [34sc]
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, (skip next st, 3 dc in next, skip next st, sc in next); repeat ( ) 7 times, turn [9 sc, 24 dc]
Row 3: Stdc (or ch 3), dc in same st, (skip a st, sc in next dc st, skip a st, 3 dc in sc st); repeat from ( ) 7 times, skip a st, sc in next dc st, skip a st, 2 dc in last sc st, turn. [8 sc, 25 dc]
Rows 4-25: Repeat rows 2 and 3 eleven times.
Row 26: Repeat row 2 once more.

Edging
Do not fasten off.
Ch 1, sc in first st, (sl st in next 3 dc sts, sc in next sc st); repeat from ( ) 7 (8) times.
Ch 1, rotate and sc down the side. [About 35 (37) sc sts]
Ch 1, rotate, sc in each foundation chain stitch across. [34 (38) sc]
Ch 1, rotate, sc up the side. [About 35 (37) sc sts]
Ch 1 and join to beginning st.
