Those tiny balls of leftover yarn from finished projects…too small for a big project but too precious to toss. Instead of letting those little scraps collect dust, put them to good use and give them a home in a dedicated yarn scrap basket.
Over the Holidays I did just that and made this fun scrap basket using many of those tiny bits of yarn. I crocheted two pieces for the bottom and cut plastic canvas to put between them making it super sturdy.
A yarn scrap basket isn’t just a storage solution; it’s a treasure trove of creative possibilities! A well-organized yarn scrap basket not only reduces waste but inspires spontaneous creativity.

Another fun scrappy project that I have started is a scrappy blanket. I’m making it with simple crochet stitches. It will be the perfect size for cuddling under while watching a movie.

Here are a few other ways to put those scraps to good use:
✨ Scrappy Projects – Use small bits for granny squares, colorful stripes, or tiny amigurumi details. Scrap yarn is perfect for those playful, mix-and-match designs!
✨ Gift Wrap & Tags – Add a handmade touch by tying up presents with a strand of yarn or making mini pom-poms as decorations.
✨ Weaving & Embroidery – Experiment with textures by incorporating scraps into woven wall hangings or embroidery projects.
✨ Kid-Friendly Crafts – Let kids get creative with yarn scraps for bracelets, bookmarks, or even simple finger knitting.
What’s your favorite way to use yarn scraps?
Until Next Time, Happy Yarning!
