Back Post Extended Double Crochet:  Yo, insert hook from back to front around the post of the indicated stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through two loops, yo, pull through remaining two loops on hook.

Notes

  1. The pattern is worked in joined rounds
  2. Ch 1 and ch 2 do not count as a stitches.
  3. To adjust height, do more or less rounds as desired.

Gauge

7 sts and 4 rds = 2″

Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain gauge.

Large Cowl – 30″ circumference

Ch 100.  Join ch with a sl st, being careful not to twist.

Alternatively, FDC 100.  Join to 1st FDC and skip rd 1.

Rd 1: Ch 2, dc in the first ch after the join, dec in each ch around, join. [100 dc]

Rd 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join. [100 sc]

Rd 3: Ch 2, (fpexdc around the dc two rows below the next sc, bpexdc around the dc two rows below the next sc) repeat around, join. [50 fpexdc, 50 bpexdc]

Rd 4: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join [100 sc]

Rd 5: Ch 2, (bpexdc around the fpexdc two rows below the next sc, fpexdc around the bpexdc two rows below the next sc) repeat around, join. [50 bpexdc, 50 fpexdc]

Rd 6: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join [100 sc]

Rd 7: Ch 2, (fpexdc around the bpexdc two rows below the next sc, bpexdc around the fpexdc two rows below the next sc) repeat around, join. [50 fpexdc, 50 bpexdc]
