Twisted Lattice Ear Warmer

After releasing several patterns in my Crossroads Collection, my mind was filled with ideas for other possibilities. I wanted to try using the Linked Tunisian Simple Stitch in all of my projects. I wanted to try different yarn weights to see how it would look. Then I slowed down my thoughts and proceeded to jot down each and every idea into my design notebook.

The Twisted Crossroads Ear Warmer has received the most love from my crochet community and I wanted to create something similar in chunky yarn. At first I thought I could write up the same pattern, figure out the new stitch counts for each size and voila, you would have the chunky version. But as I began working up the sample, I decided to take a different path with the design. I jotted down my notes as I changed a little of this and a little of that and The Twisted Lattice Ear Warmer was born.

The Twisted Lattice Ear Warmer is worked in rows using the linked tunisian simple stitch, crossed double crochet stitch and half double crochet cluster stitch. Once complete, it is seamed together with a twist to give it added texture and pizazz!

The Twisted Lattice Ear Warmer is available in Toddler, small child, older child, adult small, medium and large sizes. I am sharing how to make the adult large size for free here on my blog and you can also find my photo tutorial for the linked tunisian simple stitch here. If you prefer to have all the instructions, size options and tutorials at your fingertips, I have included the photo tutorials for the linked tunisian simple stitch and the twist seam in the paid pattern pdf which is available in my Ravelry store! Enjoy!

Sewing the twist

1) With wrong side or back side facing towards you, grab each short end and fold them to create a C shape.

2) Line up the ends of one C with the inside center of the other C for both ends. Make sure you keep your tail on the outside of your sandwiched layers.

3) With your long tail, sew back and forth through all four sandwiched layers to seam closed.

4) Weave in your tail.
