OAKES BEANIE PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS
Body
Leaving a long tail for closing, ch 28, turn.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch and each ch across, turn. (27 sc)
Row 2: Ch 2, LDC blo in each st across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 2, LDC in each st across, turn.
Rows 4-49: Repeat rows 2-3.
*Wrap around the head to check the fit of the beanie’s circumference. Adjust the number of rows as desired to customize to your head size. Ensure you end on an LDC row, not an LDC in the back loop only row, to have the right side facing after the seam.
*Fold right sides together (the lines created from the linked stitches in the back loop only will be facing out) and slip stitch the last row to row 1. Do not fasten off. Turn the right side out.
Brim
You will now be working in the round. The brim adds an inch to the total height.
Rd 1: Ch 1, hdc evenly around, join. (72 hdc)
Rd 2: Ch 1, fphdc in 1st st, *bphdc next, fphdc next; repeat from * around, fphdc in last st, join.
Rd 3-6: Repeat round 2.
Finish off with an invisible join. With the long starting tail, weave back and forth through the
unworked row ends, pull the beanie closed. Weave in ends.
